A summary of December and January:

In addition to life happening, I haven’t been motivated to write. To be honest, I had trouble finding topics to write about because most times I don’t find myself very interesting. I live my life every day in my body, so naturally I’m just like “meh, this isn’t exciting”. I tend to gain inspiration for writing topics by speaking with others in everyday conversation. These past few months my social life has plummeted due to moving away from my friends. I’m also an introvert and I enjoy my time alone and engaging in solitaire activities, like reading…so basically #NoNewFriends lol.

My sister’s business has really picked up, she provides enrichment classes for babies and preschoolers in the local school district. I’ve been able to watch my little niece and my youngest nephew while she works. Babysitting isn’t the most glamourous thing, but it is so fun watching these little ones grow and spending quality time with them. I’m not going to be around forever, so these moments are precious. I have been spending more time with my parents and brother as well. They just moved to Texas from Maryland last September, it has been so nice to have them here!

Jean flew down to Texas a few days before Christmas. Initially the plan was for him to stay here until March and during that time we would build a livable treehouse on his friend’s farm outside of Austin, and build my sister walls in her house. She has a huge empty space upstairs that she wanted to split up to create 2 bedrooms. The treehouse hasn’t happened yet, we are waiting for a better time for us, but the walls in my sister’s house are almost complete. I’ve never seen walls being built before…it has been an interesting experience to assist Jean, and also I realized how much I need to start pumping some iron. Just sanding the walls lead to muscle failure lol. I mostly painted, which was fun because my sister let me do whatever I wanted. It has been a while since I was able to be creative like that and just do whatever came to mind.

Shortly after the New Year began, Jean ended up having to take an impromptu trip to France to care for a family member for about two and a half weeks. A couple days after he left my grandma fell ill and was admitted to the hospital, so scary! She has been recovering well and shall return home soon, thank God!

A few days ago was the 65 Roses Benefit Fashion Show in Austin in memory of Whitney Carson. Modelemi Agency put this show on and I was the announcer for the evening. The proceeds of the show will be donated to the CF Foundation to help individuals with cystic fibrosis. I walked the runway a couple of times while hosting, which as a bit hectic but so much fun! I don’t want to talk too much about the show here on this blog post because I have video coming out soon about it. Thanks for the opportunity Tim!

A few opportunities that would’ve been huge fell through, a lot of castings I applied to didn’t get a reply (which is a rejection). It has been hard out here to find work. I can’t even count how many projects I have submitted myself for. Caution: Pity Party coming in 3…2…1. It just feels like no one outside of my agency wants to work with me, which makes me want to quit everything and get a regular job. It is to the point where I find it hard to get excited about future possibilities. I’m fully aware of this and I don’t want to become jaded. The funny thing is, whenever I’m ready to throw in the towel, the universe sends me something exciting and reignites my flame.

Lastly, I’m going to New York. I am not sure how long I will be there…but the opportunity has presented itself, and I must take it, I believe it would be a shame if I didn’t. I’m not going to share too much of that here either at the moment.

Things I’m looking forward to:
Traveling to Thailand after their rainy season ends (my Christmas gift from Jean)
All the pregnant people I know having their babies!!!!!!!!!
Living next to 12 taco restaurants
My mom’s hair salon opening weekend (in a couple of weeks!)
Representing an innovative clothing brand
Black Panther movie
Upcoming speaking events
Endless possibilities in NYC
A new video project
Going to an Aretha Franklin concert in March

I know this post was all over the place…Thank you for reading it anyway!
